Job Summary and Qualifications

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides high-quality, patient-centered care by performing delegated basic nursing functions and activities of daily living under RN supervision. The PCT assists in maintaining a safe, clean, and organized environment, complies with hospital policies, and adheres to State Board of Nursing rules.

Responsibilities include:
  • Implementing nursing care plans and performing direct and indirect patient care under supervision.
  • Recording patient information, vital signs, and other health data.
  • Assisting with mobility, transfers, and discharges, demonstrating proper body mechanics.
  • Collecting specimens for tests, ensuring accuracy and proper labeling.
  • Assisting with activities of daily living, including hygiene and nutrition.
  • Serving as Monitor/Telemetry Tech as needed.
  • Engaging in evidence-based practices to improve patient experience and safety.
Qualifications include:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification within 90 days of employment.
