Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of an RN, provides basic and intermediate nursing care for an assigned group of patients based on competence.

Patient Care Areas
  • General Nursing Units: Care for patients from age 15 years to maturity by clinically competent nursing staff.
  • Special Care Areas: Care for patients aged 15 years through adult with high-risk conditions.
  • Maternal Child Units:
    • Labor and Delivery: Care for patients with pregnancy-related conditions by staff competent in maternity care.
    • Nursery: Care for newborns until discharge by clinically competent staff.
  • Pediatric: Care for patients from neonate through 18 years of age.
  • GI Lab Unit: Care for toddlers (starting at 24 months) through adult by competent staff. Chemical Dependency and Psychiatric Units care for adult patients and families with a holistic approach to emotional problems.
  • Emergency Unit: Care for patients of all ages, including pediatric, high-risk, and adult patients.
  • Surgical Services: Care for patients from neonate to geriatric.

Completes established competencies within the designated introductory period. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited Nurse Aide, Medical Assistant, or intermediate/higher level Emergency Medical Technician program.
  • Preferred Education: Completion of a nurse aide course, EMT, Paramedic, or Medical Assisting program.
  • Minimum Experience: 2 years of clinical experience in inpatient, emergency department, or skilled nursing unit settings.
  • Required Certifications/Licensure: Current EMT, CNA, Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Phlebotomist, or EKG Tech certification.
  • Required Courses/Certifications (e.g., CPR): BLS certification through an approved American Heart Association Training Center or Military Training Network. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training obtained within 60 days of hire or transfer.
