Summary

This position works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. The PCT performs and assists with activities of daily living and certain treatments for patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse, following established policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Responsibilities

1. (50%) Under the nurse's direction, prioritize and organize care of assigned patients, performing basic nurse aide skills as outlined in orientation, competencies, policies, and procedures.
2. (25%) Document treatments and observations on the patient's chart; provide reports on tasks completed.
3. (25%) Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly unit.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

• Support the mission, goals, policies, and standards of nursing and hospital/unit policies.
• Provide for the age-specific needs of the patient population served.
• Perform according to procedure in all emergency situations, ensuring a safe environment.
• Demonstrate professionalism and courtesy, providing excellent customer service.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Certifications and Licensures

• Credential: BLS: Basic Life Support (must be obtained within 1 month of hire or transfer)
• Credential: PCT: MMH PCT/CNA/EMT/LPN Certification (must hold an internal certification or a current State of Michigan registry document)
• Credential: Fingerprinting (must be completed)
• Credential: Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (must be completed within 6 months of hire or transfer)

Required Education

High School Diploma or GED, with knowledge of reading, writing, mathematics, and computer skills.

Other Information

• Experience as a CNA, LPN, or EMT preferred.
