Job description

Title: Patient Care Technician II

Location: Laguna Hills, CA

Department: Ortho/Neuro

Status: Part Time

Shift: Nights (12hr)

Pay Range*: $21.25/hr - $29.20/hr

$1,500 signing bonus available to external hires new to MHS employment, contingent upon satisfaction of employment requirements.

Position Summary

This role requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. The employee will support Saddleback Medical Center's strategic plan and participate in performance improvement and patient safety activities. As an unlicensed caregiver working under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Patient Care Technician supports the Ortho/Neuro Unit by facilitating effective communication among healthcare practitioners, departments, patients, and visitors. The role involves prompt assistance to support patient progress towards discharge, including patient admission, transfer, discharge flow processes, and providing basic patient care such as data collection, personal hygiene, and assistance with activities of daily living. The technician also participates in the on-call process.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  1. Demonstrates knowledge of clinical and information technology systems.
  2. Performs assigned activities safely and competently.
  3. Maintains patient privacy rights and confidentiality of all sensitive information.
  4. Manages patient-family expectations to create positive experiences.
  5. Contributes to a clean and safe working environment.
  6. Demonstrates tact, sensitivity, and discretion to maintain good relations.
  7. Integrates knowledge of job-specific competencies.
  8. Follows directions and communicates effectively with the healthcare team.
  9. Collects pertinent patient information and reports changes to the nurse.
  10. Performs clerical duties related to patient admission, transfer, and discharge.
  11. Uses equipment safely and competently in patient care.
  12. Maintains punctuality and regular attendance.
  13. Follows company policies, procedures, and directives.
  14. Interacts positively and constructively with others.
  15. Prioritizes and multitasks effectively.

*Placement in the pay range depends on experience and qualifications. Additional compensation may include shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonuses.
