The Patient Care Technician (PCT) reports to the Nurse Manager. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the PCT performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes. The PCT II performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes. Minimum Training and Education: A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. One year of patient care work experience in a health care facility, Certified Nursing Assistant, EMT or Paramedic certification, Bachelor’s Degree or enrollment in a healthcare related program with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or Nursing Fundamentals course at an accredited institution or equivalent training preferred. Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire. Thereafter, must maintain Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Physical Requirements: Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking continuously; ability to climb stairs infrequently; work indoors continuously and outside in temperature extremes infrequently; work from elevated areas frequently; work in confined/cramped spaces frequently; perform job functions from kneeling positions infrequently; bend and twist at the waist; squat and perform job functions frequently; perform pinching operations frequently; perform gross motor activities with fingers and hands continuously; perform firm grasping and fine manipulation with fingers and hands continuously; reach overhead frequently; perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders continuously; fully use both legs continuously; use lower extremities for balance and coordination frequently; reach in all directions continuously; lift and carry 50 lbs. unassisted infrequently; lift/lower objects 50 lbs. from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted infrequently; lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs. infrequently; exert up to 50 lbs. of force frequently. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes continuously; see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance continuously; match or discriminate between colors continuously; determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception continuously; good peripheral vision capabilities continuously; maintain hearing acuity, with correction continuously; perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements continuously; deal effectively with stressful situations continuously; work rotating shifts frequently; work overtime as required frequently; work in a latex safe environment continuously; maintain tactile sensory functions continuously; selected positions require good olfactory sensory function and qualification for respirator use.
