Job summary

A leading healthcare provider is seeking a Patient Care Technician II for the 5T Med/Surg Ortho department. The role involves assisting with patient care and daily living activities in a fast-paced hospital environment. Candidates should ideally have relevant experience and certifications, and be able to lift moderately heavy loads. This is a full-time position with a rotating schedule.

Qualifications

  • Entry-level position in patient care; high school diploma preferred.
  • Relevant experience in patient care (6 months) preferred.
  • CPR certification and phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides personal care and assists with ADLs.
  • Assists RNs & LPNs with patient care procedures.
  • Performs clerical duties and equipment maintenance.

Location: Main Campus

Department: 5T MED/SURG ORTHO

Schedule: Full Time, 7on/7off, M-F 11P-7A; SAT AND SUN 7P-7A

Position Summary
  • Provides personal care and assists with ADLs
  • Assists RNs & LPNs with patient care procedures
  • Performs and assists with procedures
  • Assists with equipment/supply maintenance
  • Performs complex clerical duties
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • High School Graduate or equivalent preferred
  • Certified Nursing Assistant preferred
  • Six months of relevant patient care experience preferred
  • Phlebotomy and/or Medical Assistant experience preferred
  • Graduate of PCT course strongly preferred
  • Current Healthcare Provider CPR Certification preferred
  • General office skills and medical terminology preferred
  • General computer skills preferred
Working Conditions - ADA Information

Works primarily in moderate to fast-paced hospital setting. Generally assigned to a consistent shift and unit but may be temporarily re-assigned to meet organizational needs. Requires moderate to frequent lifting (exceeding 50 lbs), bending, and assisting in same, using correct techniques. Extensive walking during shift. Likely exposure to blood, body fluids, and infectious diseases. Uses general office equipment including computers, lab equipment, printers, fax, telephone, and nurse call systems. Interacts daily with stressed individuals or those with complex complaints, responding to questions, problems, or gaining cooperation. Physical capacity as defined by the Saunders Method (very heavy).
