Job summary

AdventHealth is seeking a Patient Care Technician ICU to perform treatments and deliver patient care in alignment with policy and procedure. You will support the healthcare team, manage age-appropriate care, and participate in performance improvement activities.

Responsibilities include documenting procedures, communicating with patients and families, maintaining a safe environment, and assisting in nursing tasks under supervision. A strong focus on safety and continuous learning is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• CNA or nursing-related certification preferred.
• CPCT/A, NCPCT, PCT-C, EMT certifications may be required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care according to policy and procedure, appropriate to age and acuity.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families and healthcare team members.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
• Document and report all procedures per department policy.
• Assist in nursing assessment and basic patient care under RN supervision.
• Follow isolation guidelines and use PPE as required.

Job Description: Full Time Mid Shift Schedule: 11:00 am to 11:00 pm Weekend

The Patient Care Technician ICU performs treatments according to policy and procedure, providing patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture. Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies. Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and supports quality standards and initiatives. Follows prescribed isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of protective equipment, performs handwashing according to policy, and enforces safety regulations. Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrades skills continuously. Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients and staff. Assists in the delivery of patient care as a team member under the direction of a registered nurse. Documents and reports all procedures in accordance with department policy. Participates in obtaining a nursing history and reports abnormalities to the registered nurse. Assists in identifying patient needs Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:

• High School Graduate or Equivalent [Required]

Work Experience:

• 1+ years applicable Patient Care Technician PCT experience [Preferred]
• Previous bedside patient care in an acute care unit, unit secretary, monitor technician, or equivalent medical experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) [Required]
• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) [Required]
• OR NHA Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A) [Required]
• OR NCCT Patient Care Technician (NCPCT) [Required]
• OR AMCA Patient Care Technician Certification (PCT-C) [Required]
• OR Emergency Medical Tech Cert (EMT) [Required]

Pay Range:

$15.31 - $24.50
