Work Schedule: Day/Night rotations

  • 6 weeks Day shift: 7 am - 7:30 pm
  • 2 weeks Night shift: 7 pm - 7:30 am
  • Every third weekend rotation

Job Description: Under the supervision of nursing staff, provides direct patient care including vital signs, checking surgical dressings, assisting with activities of daily living, performing blood draws, and specimen collection. Observes patient status, communicates needs, and participates as part of the interdisciplinary team.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Manage patient testing and care based on clinical findings.
  • Document activities such as feeding, bathing, dressing, toileting, and transfers.
  • Record vital signs and pain levels.
  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Promote patient safety and prevent falls.
  • Maintain patient rooms and supplies.
  • Provide post-mortem care as needed.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team to implement care plans.
  • Ensure patient comfort and monitor dietary and output data.
  • Conduct urinary catheter care and blood glucose monitoring.
  • Assist with wound care and specimen collection following proper protocols.
  • Handle orthopedic and rehab devices, participate in hourly rounding, and respond to alarms.
  • Follow safety guidelines and report adverse events.
  • Use proper body mechanics and improve patient flow.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Maryland CNA or GNA certification.
  • No prior experience required; healthcare experience preferred.
  • Current BLS certification.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle stress.
  • Proficiency with computer systems.
  • Proper technique for blood glucose testing.
  • Ability to perform delegated nursing tasks considering patient diversity.
