Description

Nuvance Health has a network of convenient hospital and outpatient locations — Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital, and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, and Northern Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital Center, and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York.

Purpose: Perform patient care activities and non-professional services, addressing the personal, physical, and emotional needs of patients across all age groups, in accordance with departmental policies.

Education and Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • AHA BLS healthcare provider certification required within 90 days of employment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of sciences, medical procedures/terminology, and office equipment.
License, Registration, or Certification

Essential Responsibilities
  • Assist in patient care under RN supervision, including admissions, transfers, discharges, and transport.
  • Record vital signs and report abnormalities.
  • Demonstrate competence in advanced skills such as oral suctioning, dressings, tube feeding setup, external catheter, post-mortem care, and suction canister setup.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare team members, document accurately, and participate in shift handovers and rounds.
  • Provide personalized patient and family care, ensuring safety and comfort.
  • Utilize educational resources for ongoing professional development.
  • Assist in emergency situations and adhere to infection control and safety policies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient care areas and supplies.
  • Model organizational values and demonstrate reliable attendance.
Working Conditions

Manual dexterity required; exposure to occupational risks, dirt, odors, noise, and human waste; physical effort up to 50 lbs.
