GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This job provides direct care to patients and assists with non-direct patient care unit coordination. The incumbent is expected to perform basic nursing procedures related to patient care and comfort in stable conditions, with knowledge of patient population needs. They assist RNs in caring for acutely ill patients, practice medical asepsis, respect patient dignity and privacy, and adhere to hospital policies and emergency protocols. They maintain the patient environment, communicate effectively, document care accurately, and work under supervision of RNs based on patient stability. They also coordinate activities like admissions, discharges, and transfers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide and document direct patient care activities, including vital signs, mobility, specimen collection, and other procedures. (30%)
  2. Participate in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives, ensuring safety and cleanliness. (30%)
  3. Accurately document all patient data and report changes to nursing staff. (20%)
  4. Assist with unit activities such as supply management and equipment cleaning. (20%)
  5. Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to attend 2 weeks of training
  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • CPR certification (American Heart Association)
  • Background checks: Act 34, Act 33, Act 73 FBI fingerprinting

Preferred

  • Recent acute care experience within 3 years
  • Enrolled in ASN or BSN program, with clinical rotation experience

Part-Time Rotational Schedule:

24 hours/week with 2 x 12-hour shifts, including evenings, overnights, and weekends. Flexibility required.
