• Answers telephones and relays information; refers physician orders to a licensed professional.
• Assists with patient information collection and with admission/transfer/dismissal under RN oversight.
• Assists with patient care per RN guidance and infection control practices.
• Performs and documents routine direct nursing care tasks according to age-specific needs.
• Obtains and records vitals, height, weight, and bedside glucose; reports results.
• Assists with ADLs and documents in EMR.
• Labels and secures patient belongings and keeps rooms safe.
• Distributes meals/water and assists with feeding.
• Assists with ambulation, lifting and positioning with proper body mechanics.
• Assists with transporting patients during transfer/dismissal.
• Assists with elimination needs and documents in medical record.
• Bathes patients as directed by the RN.
• Participates in Hourly Patient Rounds to address patient needs.
• Provides close observation or one-to-one care as directed by the RN.
• Collects, labels and transports specimens to lab.
• Dressing changes, splints, suturing setup and wound care per RN instructions.
• Cleans, stocks and maintains supplies and equipment.
