Job summary

Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium is hiring a Patient Care Technician I in Anchorage. You will support bedside nursing care under direct supervision, ensuring patient safety and effective communication with the RN and charge nurse.

The role focuses on maintaining a safe, clean environment and providing patient-centered care, including monitoring vitals, assisting with daily activities, and following established procedures.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Alaska Tribal Health System.
• Knowledge of Medical terminology.
• Knowledge of policies and procedures for the care of patients.
• Knowledge of customer service concepts and practices.
• Knowledge of communication skills, both oral and written to interact with patients and families.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.
• Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Observes patients with suicidal ideation or safety concerns; notifies RN and records information.
• Conducts environmental safety assessments with the nurse; adheres to isolation precautions.
• Maintains cleanliness and safety of equipment; reports hazards and assists infection control.
• Monitors vital signs and transports patients; collects specimens and tracks intake/output; assists with EKG/telemetry and personal care tasks.
• Recognizes abnormal signs and reports changes to RN; follows safety procedures.
• Changes simple dressings using aseptic technique; assists with tracheostomy care and catheter management; manages tube feeds.
• Performs clerical duties: calls, requisitions, scheduling, scanning, filing, supplies, repairs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
