Job Overview:
Under the supervision of the RN, the Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs various care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort, and safety of a specific patient population (ANA Standards of Delegation, 2004). The employee must be able to successfully complete job-specific orientation, competencies, and meet/exceed standards as identified in the criteria-based performance appraisal. PCTs must demonstrate awareness of patients' rights in all aspects of patient care and report issues to the appropriate person. The PCT demonstrates leadership through coordination of unit equipment and activities. Communicates pertinent findings or observations noted while providing patient care and comfort to the RN. Assists professional staff with basic life support principles.
Unit Description:
The Intensive Care Unit at the Henderson campus is comprised of 12 inpatient beds. Staff cares for medical/surgical patients requiring intensive care monitoring. The team works with specialty doctors to provide the best care possible. Teamwork and a positive attitude are highly valued.
Required Certifications/Licenses/Education:
- Basic Life Support: Healthcare Provider, within six months of hire.
- Completion of a high school education or equivalent (GED) preferred.
- Successfully complete PCT classes as required by the care center/unit.
