Job Description:

The Patient Care Technician facilitates and assists in meeting patient needs within the responsibilities delegated by the Registered Nurse (RN). They follow the directions of RNs, Lead/Charge Nurses, Nursing Directors, and House Supervisors.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Completion of UTMC Healthcare Tech training or equivalent qualifications as detailed below
Preferred/Required Certifications:
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Active CNA or STNA certification, recent nursing graduate, or successful Skill Assessment pass
Skills and Abilities:
  • Legible writing, clear speaking, accurate following of directions
  • Ability to organize work, accept responsibility, and perform delegated duties
  • Willingness to work weekends and holidays, rotate shifts/units
  • Physical requirements include visual acuity, hearing, communication, manual dexterity, ability to lift 50 pounds, and CPR ability
