Job summary

Laredo Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support nursing staff in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. Under RN/LPN supervision, the PCT assists with activities of daily living, vital signs, and data collection while maintaining a clean and safe care environment.

Responsibilities include aiding with mobility, meals, hygiene, and communication within the healthcare team.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience in an acute care setting or currently enrolled in a Nursing program preferred.
• BCLS - Basic Life Support within 90 days of hire required.
• CPCT - Certified Patient Care Technician preferred or CNA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists nursing staff in delivering care and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
• Collects and records vital signs, intake/output, and other patient data as directed.
• Assists with meals, bathing, grooming, and mobility.
• Positions patients, helps with ambulation, and uses mobility aids.
• Performs blood glucose monitoring and urine/stool sample collection as needed.
• Communicates patient information to the care team and reports findings to RN/LPN/LVN.
• Maintains infection control protocols and uses PPE as required.
• Participates in performance improvement initiatives and risk management.
• Maintains regular attendance and adheres to policies and standards.
