Job summary

Sanford Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the day shift in Sioux Falls, SD. The PCT provides basic patient care in ambulatory services under licensed supervision and supports multiple tasks in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities include measuring vital signs, assisting with treatments, maintaining clean treatment areas, and managing inventory. CNA and BLS are preferred; clinic experience is helpful; HS diploma or GED is desirable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of six months' experience preferred.
• Experience in a clinic setting preferred.
• Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and equipment preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Take height and weight measurements.
• Measure blood pressure and conduct basic patient assessments.
• Perform vision and color vision screenings; collect specimens as needed.
• Conduct drug screens and point-of-care urinalysis.
• Handle reception and clerical tasks.
• Prepare treatment areas and clean medical equipment.
• Maintain stock levels of medical supplies and restock as needed.
• Support patient care across adolescent through geriatric populations.
• Work independently and with a team; communicate effectively.

Summary

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs basic patient care services and supports activities within ambulatory services. Patient Care Technicians are multi-skilled to provide expanded services under the direct supervision of a licensed clinical professional.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
• Minimum of six months' experience preferred.

• Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment/supplies preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.
• Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within the first 60 days of employment.
• If working in North Dakota (ND) and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, must be registered as a Nursing Assistant (NA) through the North Dakota Department of Health within four months from the date of initial employment.
