POSITION SUMMARY:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Part-Time Telephone Operator at Brooklyn. In this role, the successful candidate will provide telephone communication services and handle code/trauma conditions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Contact hospital personnel during emergency situations
• Operate the communications system Telephone Switchboard
• Follow procedures for Code Trauma Conditions
• Answer emergency elevator calls
• Follow fire alarm emergency procedures
• Announce emergency calls over the public address system
• Page trauma groups as needed
• Interact appropriately with various management levels
• Maintain the telephone database
• Maintain the code book

ADDITIONAL POSITION-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Answer all calls to the hospital's main number (3-3911) and handle patient information
• Perform quick triage and forward calls or activate emergency protocols accordingly
• Operate the 24/7 communications system Telephone Console
• Participate in Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity exercises
• Backup the Langone Orthopedic Hospital Main Console during shift gaps
• Maintain high customer service levels through required training and certification

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma required
• At least 2 years of relevant experience
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Previous hospital switchboard experience preferred
