Job summary

Boone Hospital Group is seeking a Patient Care Technician for night shifts to provide direct patient care under RN supervision. The role involves assisting with ADLs, performing vital signs, and supporting a safe patient environment on a float basis across inpatient units.

Qualified candidates are CNAs or nursing students within 90 days of course completion; experience as a CNA/EMT/surgical tech is valued. This position emphasizes safety, documentation, and continuous learning.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a nursing program or completed fundamentals of nursing course within 90 days.
• Certified nursing assistant in good standing or equivalent, or eligible for CNA certification.
• Experience as nurse assistant, EMT, or surgical technician within the last 3 years.
• Completion of a patient care technician training program meeting MO or state requirements within the last 3 years.
• Current U.S. registration as CNA or equivalent in another state is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under RN supervision, supporting safe, patient- and family-centered care.
• Administer or assist with Activities of Daily Living and vital signs; monitor intake/output; prevent falls and pressure ulcers; Foley care and phlebotomy as requested.
• Float to multiple inpatient units as needed, adapting to varied clinical environments while maintaining high-quality care.
• Collect clinical data and report status changes to the nurse; assist with patient and family education; document all care activities.
• Ensure supplies and equipment are available to meet patient needs; participate in safety, quality, and regulatory activities.

Collects vital information on the patient and reports such to the RN which contributes to the overall assessment of each patient and any changes to a patient's condition. **Job Responsibilities** • Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nurse, promoting patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Administers or assists patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADL), performs vital signs (VS), intake and output (I&O), fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures, foley care, phlebotomy, or point of care testing as requested. • Floats to multiple inpatient units based on organizational needs, adapting to varied clinical environments while maintaining high-quality, patient centered care. • Collects clinical data and information on patients, and reports changes in patient status to the nurse. Assists nurse with patient and family education. Documents all patient care activities provided. • Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient’s needs. • Participates in activities that promote safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development and lifelong learning, as well as acting as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary. • Boone Health has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job. • Performs Other Responsibilities as Assigned. **Minimum Qualifications** Experience: • Is enrolled in a professional or practical nursing education program and has or will complete within ninety (90) days a fundamentals of nursing course; or • Was a professional nursing or practical nursing licensure candidate who failed to pass the state licensure examinations in the past three (3) years; or • Is certified as a nursing assistant; or • Has documentation of current registration as a certified nursing assistant in another state that meets the requirements listed in 42 CFR 483.151 and 483.152; or • Has documented experience as a nurse assistant, emergency medical technician, or surgical technician in the past three (3) years; or • Has proof of completion of a patient care technician training program which meets the curriculum requirements of this rule or UAP training program in Missouri or another state which meets the requirements of this rule within the last three (3) years; • Has completed a professional or licensed practical nursing program outside the United States and is awaiting the licensure examination in this country; or • Has proof of certification as a patient care technician. • Must have prior experience as a PCT or CNASupervisor Experience: Non-Required Licenses & Certification: Non-Required **Preferred Qualifications** • Licenses & Certification: Certified Nurse Assistant**Work Shift**Night Shift (United States of America)**Legal Statement**The above information on this description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees in this position.
