Job summary

HonorHealth’s John C Lincoln campus in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Emergency Department. You will support nurses with direct patient care, monitor vital signs, assist with activities of daily living, and help with basic treatments in a fast-paced, diverse environment.

Evening shift, 3–12 hour shifts from 10:00 AM to 10:30 PM, with self-scheduling and weekend/holiday rotations. Prior ED or related healthcare experience is preferred; BLS is required, CNA/EMT

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 6 months healthcare experience in last year required; 6 months acute care preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provides and collaborates direct patient care under licensed supervision, including activities of daily living, vital signs, and basic care per patient care plan.
• Observes and reports changes in patient condition and maintains chart documentation.
• Addresses questions from patients and families and supports the health care team.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Join a fast-paced Emergency Department caring for approximately 135 patients each day and serving a diverse patient population. PCTs gain hands‑on experience with EKGs, phlebotomy, splinting, triage, ADLs, trauma support, and code response while working in a highly collaborative, team‑oriented environment. Previous Emergency Department or related healthcare experience is strongly preferred due to the pace and complexity of the unit. The team supports professional growth, with opportunities to participate in committees, improvement initiatives, and gain valuable experience for those interested in pursuing a future nursing career.

This position is a full-time Evening shift working with 3-12 hour shifts from 10:00 AM–10:30 PM.

We offer self-scheduling for shift and weekend coverage. Scheduled workdays may vary, as there are no set or fixed days. Weekend and Holiday Rotations are required in this role. Weekend shift differentials are offered, along with evening and night shift differentials where applicable.

JOB SUMMARY

Essential Functions

• Provides and collaborates direct patient care services under the direct supervisor of a licensed caregiver. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to personal care, activities of daily living, vital signs, intake and output, ambulation, interventions, and implementation of selected portions of the patient care plan as directed under supervisor of nurse.
• Assists, observes and reports changes in patient condition to licensed caregiver and maintains accurate medical record documentation in relation to the care delivered.
• Addresses and/or directs questions or concerns from patients, families, caregivers, or health care team members.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

• High School Diploma or GED Required

Experience

• Other Completion of Block 1 in Nursing OR Medical Assistant (MA) OR Nursing Assistant (NA) OR Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) OR Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) OR 6 months of experience in the healthcare setting within the last year Required
• 6 months in acute care experience. Preferred

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS

• Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification Required
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Certification Preferred
• Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT) - License Emergency Medical Tech Preferred
