Job summary

Prisma Health is seeking a patient care assistant to support Registered Nurses in meeting basic patient needs within a hospital setting. The role focuses on compassionate care and routines essential to pediatric patients in Richland Hospital.

Responsibilities include assisting with hygiene, nutrition, mobility, and elimination, plus documenting vital signs and reporting abnormalities to the nurse. Training through Prisma Health unit secretary course is required within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Education - Completion of a Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Tech, Medical Assistant or Nursing Fundamentals course.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Experience - Previous nursing assistant, medical assistant or related experience preferred. One year hospital clerical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists patient with needs related to personal hygiene (bathing, washing hair, brushing teeth and hair, washing hands).
• Assists patients with needs related to nutrition and feeding (feeding, drinking, setting up meal trays).
• Assists patients with ambulation (dangling, walking, with assistive device, fall prevention under RN).
• Assists with elimination (to bathroom, bedpan, urinal; monitor inputs/outputs).
• Completes and documents patient vital signs (BP, pulse, temp, heart rate, oxygenation) and reports abnormalities to RN.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
