Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Patient Care Technician to assist under the guidance of RNs or LPNs in delivering individualized patient care. The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and adherence to Mercy’s care standards.

Preferred candidates include EMTs, Paramedics, or those with prior patient care experience. Minimum physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds and prolonged standing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; CNA/CPTC enrollment or healthcare program; current Mercy coworker.
• Experience: none required.
• Preferred Experience: EMT, Paramedic or previous patient care experience.
• Preferred Certifications: CNA, EMT, AUA, CPCT.
• Minimum Physical Requirements: push/pull/lift 50 pounds; prolonged standing/walking; grip/reach/bend/kneel/twist/squat.

Under the direction of the RN or LPN, assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patient's highest level of wellness. Works cooperatively with others as part of a team; recognizes the importance of group goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient.

Position Details:

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma, G.E.D, CNA/CPTC or enrollment in a healthcare career program through their high school curriculum, and/or a current co-worker of Mercy.

• Experience: None required.

  • For PCT: In the state of practice: If no previous experience, Mercy will provide a required 175-hour training program that meets the state of practice Department of Health and Senior Services requirements. The program will be completed as part of the new hire orientation process and must be completed within 90 days of hire to remain in the PCT position per state guidelines

• Preferred Experience: EMT, Paramedic or Previous Patient Care Experience.

• Preferred Certifications: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced Unlicensed Assistant (AUA) in the state of practice, Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT).

• Other: Minimum Physical Requirements

  • Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis

  • Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift

  • Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
