Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and the direction of the Registered Nurse, the employee performs duties supporting patient care, including direct and indirect activities essential for comprehensive care. Responsibilities

  1. Under the RN's guidance, assist in assessment, planning, and evaluation by obtaining and reporting patient information, including vital signs.
  2. Perform technical duties and selected procedures that contribute to safe, efficient patient care, ensuring proper patient identification.
  3. Assist in patient care with attention to safety, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team and respecting cultural and individual diversity.
  4. Communicate professionally with patients, families, and staff, including participating in bedside reports and maintaining open communication.
  5. Demonstrate accountability by adapting to patient care needs through relocation and role flexibility.
  6. Complete non-therapeutic functions, such as removing medications from the pneumatic tube system and delivering them to the appropriate licensed practitioners.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED, plus CNA or equivalent (e.g., Medical Assistant, CPCT, EMT, student nurse, or LPN).

Licensure: Valid CT CNA certification, EMT, or student nurse certification; BCLS certification required within one month of hire and maintained throughout employment.

Skills: Successful orientation completion, proficiency in English, positive engagement with patients and staff.

Physical Demands: Regular sitting, standing, walking, and handling, with occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. Vision and auditory capabilities required. Moderate noise environment.
