Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: Monday-Friday, 10am-6pm, with rotating weekends

Job Summary/Purpose: Patient Throughput & Flow Coordination – Supports timely patient throughput by coordinating the movement of discharged patients into and through the Discharge Lounge, collaborating with inpatient units, transport services, pharmacy, and other departments to reduce discharge delays and optimize hospital capacity.

Minimum Training and Education:

Patient Care Technician I: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Patient Care Technician II: High School Diploma/Equivalent and ONE of the following requirements must be met.

• Associate or Bachelor's degree

• 1 year of experience in a healthcare facility

• At least 1 year of PCT I (.6 FTE +) experience at MUSC

• Active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution

• Active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution

• Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited institution

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire. Thereafter, must maintain. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
