Position Details

The schedule for this position is three 12-hour shifts per week, from 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with every other weekend (Friday and Saturday nights) required. This is a year-round, regularly scheduled position that cannot accommodate weekend-only availability.

Job Description

The Patient Care Technician reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory standards. Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care activities.

Responsibilities

1. Performs basic nursing care activities delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, blood glucose, and recording intake and output.
2. Assists patients with personal care and activities of daily living, such as bathing, grooming, and eating.
3. Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
4. Maintains patient room cleanliness and orderliness.
5. Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and multi-tasking skills, functioning effectively under stress.
6. Uses critical thinking to prioritize and complete unit work efficiently as needs change.
7. Acts as a liaison between patient care units and other departments.
8. Answers calls, intercom, and call lights politely and communicates effectively with staff, families, and patients.
9. Manages overall unit workflow with charge RN or assistant manager as needed.
10. Performs pre-census checks and validates daily admission, discharge, and census lists as required.

Qualifications

Required

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Nursing students who have completed one clinical rotation
• Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or nursing students with one semester of clinical completed
• CPR – Basic Life Support
• Physical ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds and push/pull force up to 50 pounds

Preferred

• Phlebotomy experience
• Graduate of an accredited Nursing Assistant or Phlebotomy program
