Job summary

BayCare is seeking a Patient Care Technician at the BayCare Surgery Center in Trinity. Under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, you will provide patient care to a group of assigned patients, assisting with daily needs such as hygiene, mobility, nutrition and safety.

Additional duties include documenting care, communicating with the care team, and performing validated skills such as urinary catheter insertion/removal, IV reseal, suprapubic catheter care and telemetry lead placement.

Qualifications

6 months acute care experience; or 1-year Skilled Nursing Facility experience; or BayCare sponsored Nursing Assistant or PCT Internship; or Nursing Fundamentals (RN); or Nursing Foundation (LPN) Programs; or EMT certification / Paramedic license for ER only; or completion of a PCT or Nursing Assistant program which includes a clinical component.
BLS (Basic Life Support) - Relevant Specialty; Patient Care Technician - If applicable; Active CPR certification upon hire or within seven days of hire if enrolled in the PCT internship and prior to patient contact or required on hire.

Responsibilities

Works under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse providing patient care in the clinical setting.
Cares for a group of assigned patients with various needs to ensure safe, high-quality care is delivered.
Care includes hygiene, mobility, nutrition, toileting, safety measures, communication with patient & care team, and documentation of care provided.
Additional skills include urinary catheter insertion and removal, removal IV reseal, suprapubic catheter care, telemetry lead placement and ostomy care/maintenance.
