Job summary

Avera Hand County Memorial Hospital is seeking a Regular, rotating shift patient care technician to provide routine patient care and support services under nurse/physician direction. The role emphasizes compassionate, quality care consistent with hospital policies.

Responsibilities include ambulating, helping with meals and personal care, handling materials, responding to call lights, and coordinating with departments for outpatient needs.

Responsibilities

• Provides safe and direct patient care: ambulating, bathing, positioning, feeding and other care needs.
• Greets visitors, answers inquiries, directs and assists; relays messages and helps with gifts, flowers and mail.
• Ambulates patients and assists in/out of wheelchairs; measures intake and output; may collect specimens.
• Answers telephone, operates paging system, and assists during emergencies.
• Prepares requisitions for diagnostic and therapeutic services and coordinates appointments.
• Requests services such as Chaplain, social services, and pastoral care.
• Performs clerical duties related to admissions, discharge, chart preparation, transfers, and death.
• Manages interdepartmental and patient mail; maintains patient rooms and changes linens.
