VCU Health is seeking qualified nursing assistants/patient care technicians to provide direct, age-appropriate care under the supervision of the RN or licensed practitioner. A $1,000 sign-on bonus is available for offers accepted by June 30, 2026.

Requirements include completion of a state-recognized CNA program or approved alternatives; AHA BLS HCP or equivalent; acute care experience preferred. Care Partners work all three shifts, weekends and holidays, with schedules set by the Nurse Manager.

Qualifications

• Completion of state-recognized CNA program or equivalent pathway.
• AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent required for hire/continued employment.

Responsabilités

• Assist with emotional support and problem solving in line with hospital policy.
• Handle medications and related supplies per unit policy and supervision.

The PCT provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the RN or licensed independent practitioner.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: N/A

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent

Experience REQUIRED: N/A

Experience PREFERRED:
Acute care experience as a nursing assistant or aide experience

Education/training REQUIRED:
Completion of state recognized CNA program; or
Completion of first semester junior year in an accredited BSN program dependent upon school curriculum. VCU/MCV BSN students - completion of sophomore year, Nursing 201, 202, 261.
Accredited Associate Degree and Diploma programs - completion of first year or a minimum of two semesters of basic nursing courses. Specialty areas e.g. pediatrics, women`s health, psychiatry may require completion of a clinical rotation in that area; or
Completion of EMT program; or Completion of medical assistant program; or
One (1) year of medical assistant work experience within the last three (3) years; or
One (1) year of care partner or equivalent work experience within the last three (3) years; or
One (1) year of military corpsman experience within the last three (3) years

Education/training PREFERRED: N/A

Independent action(s) required:
Functions under direction of alicensed independent practitioner, manager and/or RN in providing patient care, emotional support, and problem solving; all in accordance with hospital, nursing and unit policy/procedure.
Requires prior approval or guidance from supervisor: time/schedule changes; legal issues; directed care which deviates from standard; and identify educational resources to meet developmental needs.
Job duties may include the handling, transportation, access to and/or contact with medications and related supplies.

Additional position requirements:
Care Partners work all three shifts, weekends and holidays.
Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with your specific Nurse Manager/Practice Manager.
Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work may be adjusted as necessary to meet unit requirements and/or as needed.

Compensation Range: $17.25 - $24.12

Actual salary offers will be based on several key factors to include relevant work experience, credentials, and qualifications.
