Sentara is currently hiring a Patient Care Technician to work at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital on the Cardiac Care Unit.

Hours/Shift:

Part-time, dayshift. 7am to 7pm

Department/Position Overview:

CCU (Cardiac Care Unit) is a 12-bed high-level intermediate care unit that specializes in caring for cardiac and vascular patients before and after interventional procedures and surgeries such as cardiac catheterizations, coronary bypass surgery, carotid surgery, and peripheral vascular surgery. CCU also cares for congestive heart failure and arrhythmia patients.

Patient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff members who work under the supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated nursing care, support admissions and discharges, and ensure patient safety. They observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report changes to the nurse.

Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Certification/Licensure:

• American Health Associate BLS Certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Minimum requirements: Must have one of the following:
• Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, or
• Successful completion of the CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services (EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT, Paramedic), or
• Current student enrolled in a clinical program (beyond prerequisites) with at least one semester completed in RN, LPN, RT, or PT, or
• Recent work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.

Experience:

One year of prior healthcare experience preferred.
