A leading healthcare provider seeks a Patient Care Technician to support patient care in a dynamic Burn Trauma unit. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, conducting various clinical tasks, and documenting patient conditions under the supervision of nursing staff. This role requires an HS diploma or equivalent and either certification as a Nursing Assistant or relevant experience in healthcare.
The Patient Care Technician provides patient care, supports activities of daily living (both independent and dependent), and performs various clinical tasks including vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and Foley catheter insertion and removal. They comply with patient safety practices under the supervision of a registered nurse. Additionally, they observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions, document findings accurately and promptly, and report any changes to the nursing or medical staff.
Department Overview: Burn Trauma is a 34-bed mixed intermediate care and medical/surgical unit. There are 17 beds for step-down/intermediate care, serving patients with neurosurgery, trauma, burns, and orthopedic trauma. These patients are transferred from the Burn/Trauma ICU and Neurosurgical ICU. The unit also includes 17 beds for medical/surgical care for neurosurgical, trauma, burns, orthopedic trauma, and bariatric weight loss patients (gastric bypass and gastric sleeves).
