Patient Care Technician

UPMC Carlisle is seeking a Patient Care Technician for our Acute Cardiac and Neuro Unit!

This is a Full-Time (36 hours/week), Night Shift (7:00pm - 7:00am) position with rotating weekends and holidays.

Note: Title and starting pay rate may vary based on experience.

Responsibilities
  • Perform patient care duties including assisting with ADLs such as bathing, feeding, transporting, toileting, ambulating, turning, and repositioning patients.
  • Complete medical record documentation accurately and report equipment malfunctions.
  • Respond to call lights, telephones, pass meal trays, and transport patients, adhering to safety policies.
  • Establish professional relationships and communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members.
  • Provide feedback to RNs, report patient status changes, and instruct patients and families as directed.
  • Achieve and maintain competency in standard and advanced skills like IV removal, Foley catheter removal, arrhythmia interpretation, and NG tube management.
  • Perform core nursing assistant responsibilities including vital signs, blood glucose testing, I&O, telemetry, and specimen collection.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures, ensuring safety and quality in patient care.

Additional duties include supporting department projects and quality initiatives, and participating in self-review and ongoing learning to improve skills and performance.
