GENERAL OVERVIEW:
This job provides direct care to patients and assists with non-direct patient care unit coordination. The incumbent is expected to perform basic nursing procedures related to care and comfort of patients in stable condition, and have knowledge of patient population needs in the assigned work area. They are expected to assist the RN in the care of acutely ill patients, practice medical asepsis, respect patient dignity and privacy, and respond appropriately during emergencies. They must maintain the patient/family environment, perform general unit upkeep, communicate effectively, and document patient care in the electronic medical record. The incumbent works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, receiving specific work assignments from the Charge Nurse or Care Team Leader, and demonstrates efficient time management. They also perform duties related to patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
