Job Description - Patient Care Technician - 6A Medical Surgical - 20HR Evening Shift (3 pm to 11:30 pm) - Episcopal and NE Campuses (252704)

The Patient Care Technician provides direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Responsibilities include executing components of the care plan related to basic human, mental health, and social needs; ensuring patient comfort, safety, and emergency response; assisting with activities of daily living, personal care, nutrition, fluid intake, and elimination needs. The technician measures vital signs, interprets cardiac monitoring strips, identifies dysrhythmias, documents findings, and reports to the registered nurse. Additional duties include performing ECGs, venipuncture, blood glucose testing, and supporting unit secretary, patient transport, and environment of care tasks.

Education
  • Successful completion of Nurses Aide/Medical Assistant Training and Competency Evaluation program or Fundamentals of Nursing Care Course in an RN program (Required)
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Preferred)
Experience
  • Experience as a nursing assistant, medical assistant, monitor technician, or unit secretary (Preferred)
  • Experience in Medical Telemetry as a nursing assistant, medical assistant, monitor technician, phlebotomist, or unit secretary (Preferred)
