Job description

Hourly Pay Range:

$18.84 - $27.32 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

• Position: Patient Care Technician - 5S Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) - Nights
• Location: Swedish Hospital, Chicago
• Full Time
• Hours: 36 hours per week; Nights (7p-730a); every other weekend and rotating holidays required
• Required Travel: None

What you will do:

• Provide care to patients on assigned nursing unit under the supervision of a Clinical Nurse Manager.
• Communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, families, visitors, and healthcare team members.
• Use standard precautions and any additional precautions based on patient pathology, including personal protective equipment.
• Assist with patient hygiene, meeting elimination needs, and setting up patient rooms for new admissions.
• Support RN in admitting new patients, attaching ECG cables, taking vital signs, and providing basic patient care including for Covid-19 patients.
• Assist with nutritional needs, ambulation, repositioning, and documentation of vital signs and other patient data in EMR.
• Maintain safety protocols, proper equipment cleaning, and patient privacy.
• Perform ECGs, organize supplies, and assist with patient transfers and care activities.
• Participate in ongoing competency testing and quality control procedures.
• Perform other patient care and unit support tasks as directed.

What you will need:

• CNA certification, completion of an accredited nursing assistant training, or equivalent experience.
• American Heart Association CPR Certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Effective communication skills, organization, and confidentiality.
