Job Description - Patient Care Technician - 5 Tower (Full Time, Night shift) (28161)

Job Summary

Provides direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Performs technical skills and procedures to support hospital operations 24/7.

Job Duties

  • Receives patient care assignments from the RN and performs delegated tasks.
  • Assists patients with daily activities such as bathing, hygiene, nutrition, and comfort measures.
  • Records vital signs, measurements, and other data in the Electronic Health Record.
  • Performs procedures like venipuncture, specimen collection, Point of Care Testing, EKGs, Bladder Scanning, under supervision.
  • Communicates patient status and significant changes to the RN.
  • Prioritizes care needs and re-prioritizes based on RN guidance.
  • Restocks supplies and assists with room preparation and turnover.
  • Provides necessary supplies based on patient needs.
  • Identifies improvement opportunities and promotes cost containment.
  • Maintains cleanliness of patient rooms and nursing station.
  • Supports and comforts patients and families.
  • Assists in transporting patients for procedures.
  • Performs additional tasks to ensure efficient and quality care.
  • Welcomes and provides information to patients, families, and visitors.

Qualifications

  • Active CNA or EMT/Paramedic licensure in Florida, maintained throughout employment.
  • Active American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) or Safety Care certification within 6 months of hire, maintained thereafter.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to follow RN and leadership guidance.
  • Apply evidence-based practices and demonstrate service excellence.
