Job summary

The START Center for Cancer Research is seeking a Patient Care Technician to deliver direct patient care to participants in oncology clinical trials at our San Antonio site. The role supports nurses and physicians, adheres to SOPs, and follows evidence-based standards.

Responsibilities include assisting with examinations, drawing blood, taking vital signs, and preparing patients and rooms for procedures. Certification in BLS is required; oncology trial experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take vital signs.
• Perform ECGs.
• Prepare patients for examinations, tests and treatments and explain procedures.
• Record necessary information for review by nurses or physicians.
• May assist with clinical research or perform other specialized duties requiring supplemental training.
• Inventory and requisition of supplies and instruments.
• Set up equipment and prepare medical exam rooms.
• Prepare charts and lab requisitions for the next clinic day.

We are hiring a Patient Care Technician. The Patient Care Technician is responsible for providing patient care to individuals who are participants in clinical trials that are conducted at START. The PCT uses appropriate judgment and decision-making in planning and providing care. Care is to be delivered in a manner consistent with the Standard Operating Procedures and standards of practice, and professional evidence-based standards.

Essential Responsibilities

Preferred Education And Experience

• 1+ year of patient care experience.
• Previous oncology and/or clinical trials experience.
• Phlebotomy Certification
