Job summary

Starting pay is $19.80/hour for Nursing Assistants, with progression along a clear career ladder from Nursing Assistant to Patient Care Technician - Lead, based on experience and qualifications. Shifts rotate, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one of the following: 1 year of general healthcare experience; 6 months as UPMC Nursing Assistant/CNA with PCT competency achieved within 120 days of hire/transfer/promotion; enrollment in a nursing program with completion of at least 1 clinical rotation; or a bachelor's degree in a health sciences field.
• Nursing Students or those with EMT experience preferred.
• CPR required within 30 days of hire; BLS/CPR.

• Assist with activities of daily living, basic patient care, point-of-care testing, vital signs, telemetry monitoring, and specimen collection.
• Role may include phlebotomy, IV removal, and EKGs depending on department needs.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must also have at least one of the below:
  • One year of general healthcare experience
  • 6 months of experience as UPMC Nursing Assistant/CNA with PCT competency achieved within 120 days of hire/transfer/promotion
  • Enrollment in a nursing program with completion of at least 1 clinical rotation required
  • Completion of a bachelor's degree in a health sciences field
• Nursing Students or those with EMT experience preferred

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances

• CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Clearances with renewal:
  • Act 31, 33, 34, 73
