Job Description

The Patient Care Technician provides a variety of indirect and direct care, including provisions for patients' dependency needs such as nutrition, hygiene, safety, and physical and psychological comfort measures, to patients and their significant others, under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. Responsibilities include performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Work is primarily performed in patient settings with extensive interaction with patients, staff, physicians, family members, and visitors.

Qualifications

Education

High School Diploma or GED

License/Registration

License/Registration issued by Florida or a Compact State

Certification

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Red Cross or American Heart Association

Work Experience and Additional Information

Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities include:

• Understanding common medical terms used in patient care and documentation.
• Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology, including how different systems function.
• Familiarity with patient care procedures such as vital signs monitoring, bathing, feeding, and assisting with mobility.
• Knowledge of infection prevention practices and safety protocols in healthcare settings.
• Ability to navigate and input patient information in Electronic Health Records (EHR).
