- Assist in the smooth flow of the clinic by:
- Providing translation for non-bilingual staff.
- Set up and stock the exam room and Smart Carts.
- Assisting nurses in preparing patients for medical visits by taking BP, HT, WT, temperature, Respiratory Rate, Pulse, vision and hearing screening, EKG, and NSTs.
- Perform lab assistant duties on a rotating basis as assigned by nurse to include:
- Routine lab procedures-HCT, PG Test Urine dipstick, chem strip, Q-Strips.
- Collect blood and urine specimens and prepare for laboratory analysis.
- Complete necessary paperwork.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of procedures performed, tests administered, and results received.
- Maintain cleanliness of lab area, restock lab, as necessary.
- Assist in the maintenance of medical records and data collection:
- Review patient data on the chart each visit,
- Place appropriate forms in the chart for each visit, depending on the reason for the visit.
- Assist nurse with follow-up activities as assigned.
- Perform injections as instructed.
- Follow nurse and physician orders as instructed.
- Provide patient education and information.
- Comply with the SSCHC TB Control Plan including PPD testing.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Satisfactory completion of In-House Training and Preceptorship.
- Nursing Assistance or laboratory background is strongly preferred.
- Experience in community health, public health, or in a community agency.
- Ability to relate well to people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
