Job description


  1. Assist in the smooth flow of the clinic by:



  • Providing translation for non-bilingual staff.

  • Set up and stock the exam room and Smart Carts.

  • Assisting nurses in preparing patients for medical visits by taking BP, HT, WT, temperature, Respiratory Rate, Pulse, vision and hearing screening, EKG, and NSTs.



  1. Perform lab assistant duties on a rotating basis as assigned by nurse to include:



  • Routine lab procedures-HCT, PG Test Urine dipstick, chem strip, Q-Strips.

  • Collect blood and urine specimens and prepare for laboratory analysis.

  • Complete necessary paperwork.

  • Assist in maintaining accurate records of procedures performed, tests administered, and results received.

  • Maintain cleanliness of lab area, restock lab, as necessary.



  1. Assist in the maintenance of medical records and data collection:



  • Review patient data on the chart each visit,

  • Place appropriate forms in the chart for each visit, depending on the reason for the visit.

  • Assist nurse with follow-up activities as assigned.



  1. Perform injections as instructed.

  2. Follow nurse and physician orders as instructed.

  3. Provide patient education and information.

  4. Comply with the SSCHC TB Control Plan including PPD testing.

  5. Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  1. Satisfactory completion of In-House Training and Preceptorship.

  2. Nursing Assistance or laboratory background is strongly preferred.

  3. Experience in community health, public health, or in a community agency.

  4. Ability to relate well to people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
