Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System is seeking staff to assist in patient care with routine, non-professional nursing tasks, using advanced medical and surgical skills beyond a Nursing Assistant level. Requirements include current Maryland CNA certification in good standing and STABLE certification for NICU and Post-Partum units.

Qualifications

• Current Maryland CNA certification in good standing.
• STABLE certification required for NICU and Post-Partum staff.
• Experience: Less than one year.
• Training: NLN-approved nursing program, RN/LPN program graduate, EMT-B, or Armed Forces corpsman.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine, non-professional nursing care utilizing medical and surgical skills beyond Nursing Assistant level.
• Take patients' vital signs and observe or report changes in condition.
• Communicate changes in patient conditions to the care team and maintain patient confidentiality.

Work Experience

Required: Current Maryland certification in good standing as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

Required: Certification in Pre-Transport/Post-resuscitation Stabilization Care of Sick Infants Guidelines for Neonatal Healthcare Providers (STABLE) is required of staff assigned to 672 – Nursing NICU, 651-Nursing (Post-Partum), Nursing 708 – Labor & Delivery.

Experience (years): Required: Less than one year

Basic knowledge and working experience with Medical Terminology

Alternative training: Completion of first clinical year of NLN-approved nursing program, graduate of an approved RN or LPN program, or EMT-B or Armed Forces Corpsman.
