High school diploma or equivalent is required.
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) in the Emergency Department provides compassionate, hands-on care to patients in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. The PCT works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to assist with direct patient care, ensure efficient operations, and support patient safety and comfort. Key responsibilities include performing EKGs, collecting blood samples, splinting extremities, and assisting with the safe lifting and transport of patients. The PCT also provides clerical support as needed to maintain smooth departmental workflow.
Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Experience: Previous hospital experience as a nursing assistant, EMT, or physician office patient care experience. Phlebotomy experience preferred.
Certifications: CNA, EMT, Medical Assistant, or clinical rotations in RN program. Current CPR certification. AVADE training (or equivalent) within six months.
Knowledge and Skills: Basic patient care equipment, wheelchairs, stretchers. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
