Job description

Join to apply for the Patient Care Technician role at DaVita Kidney Care

DaVita is seeking a Patient Care Technician who is passionate about giving life in an outpatient dialysis center. This role offers an opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of patients with end-stage renal failure or chronic kidney disease. We value empathetic and compassionate care—treat others as you would want to be treated.

Joining DaVita as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides a chance to start a rewarding career in healthcare. You will receive paid, extensive training to develop the skills necessary to care for our patients and connect with healthcare professionals across your region. After training, you will work as part of a holistic team including nurses, dietitians, social workers, and other PCTs, dedicated to patient care. This is more than a job—it's a career driven by passion and purpose.

DaVita, which means 'giving life' in Italian, aims to deliver quality service to patients, partners, and teammates. Our mission is to be the Provider, Partner, and Employer of Choice.

Our PCTs find their work fulfilling and have opportunities for career advancement through our Clinical Ladders program. Additionally, through DaVita's Bridge to your Dreams program, teammates with six months of service and in good standing can receive tuition assistance to pursue nursing degrees or other healthcare certifications. We also offer training for roles such as Facility Administrator and Regional Operations Director. Your growth depends on your performance and enthusiasm.

Position Details:
  • No prior dialysis experience required.
  • Training may occur at a different facility or clinic from your assigned home clinic.
  • Potential to float between clinics during and after training.
  • Must have a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
What to Expect:
  • Direct Patient Care: Spend most of your day providing safe, comfortable dialysis treatment through one-on-one patient interactions.
  • Multiple Patients: Care for several patients during your shift.
  • Technician Duties: Monitor patients, record vital stats, observe patient condition, and set up hemodialysis machines. Note: You will be exposed to blood and needles.
  • Relationship Building: Develop long-term relationships with patients undergoing treatment three times weekly and educate them on dialysis-related topics.
  • Team Collaboration: Work under RN supervision as part of a multidisciplinary team including technicians, nurses, dietitians, social workers, and leadership.
What We Provide:
  • Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, paid time off, and PTO cash out.
  • Support resources for you and your family, such as counseling, Headspace access, backup care, and pet insurance.
  • Paid training to ensure your success.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Desire to care for others in the healthcare field.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Comfort working around blood and needles.
  • Ability to mix acid or bicarb.
  • Physical and mental stamina for long hours (including 12+ hour shifts) on your feet.
  • Willingness to train and work across multiple clinics within the territory.
  • Healthcare experience such as BONENT certification, CHT, CNA, CMA, or Phlebotomy is a plus.

DaVita is a clinical leader committed to improving patient health through quality initiatives. We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity in our workforce.
