Patient Care Technician (Finance)



Under the day-to-day direction of the on-duty nurse practitioner/physician assistant, the primary purpose of the Patient Care Technician (PCT) position is to maximize patient flow through the clinic while providing an excellent patient experience. The PCT is responsible for performing administrative tasks, including electronic health record (EHR) documentation, in accordance with company policies. The role requires demonstrating the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Minimum qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong administrative, communication, and organizational skills with high attention to detail
  • Basic math skills (e.g., counting, addition, subtraction)
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a fast-paced, team environment
  • Excellent customer service and task management skills

Desired qualifications:

  • Previous experience in retail, customer service, or healthcare
  • Knowledge of infection control practices
  • Ability to maintain a safe, survey-ready healthcare environment per Joint Commission standards
  • Greeting patients and visitors professionally
  • Maintaining clinic cleanliness and organization daily
  • Answering questions while following HIPAA guidelines
  • Managing patient flow using scheduling and kiosk systems
  • Completing patient registration and verifying identity
  • Explaining payment options, collecting payments, and logging in the EHR
  • Scanning documents and alerting providers as needed
  • Assisting with patient escort, vital signs, and history documentation
  • Providing guidance to patients regarding registration, wait times, and services
  • Handling phone inquiries and patient callbacks
  • Participating in off-site events and managing supplies and shipments
  • Traveling to designated clinics if assigned as a float
  • Assisting providers with specimen collection and reporting labs as trained
