Job summary

University Of Michigan's Michigan Medicine is seeking a Temp Nursing Assistant on 11 West, a 32-bed unit caring for patients from infant to adult with congenital heart defects. You will support RNs by setting up equipment, assisting with procedures, and transporting patients.

Under RN supervision, responsibilities include preparing patients for exams, monitoring vitals, stocking supplies and administering delegated tasks.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Experience in patient care preferred (pediatrics/critical care helpful).
• Ability to stand/walk moderate duty and lift/move patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform delegated clinical or laboratory procedures.
• Monitor, setup and maintain the operations of clinical equipment.
• May monitor patient status, record and document vital signs.
• Stock and maintain inventory of specialized areas.
• May transport patients to and from designated locations.
• May assist with admitting and discharge procedures.

• Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas.
• Perform other related duties as assigned

• Provides moderate to complex assistance to patients including drawing blood, operating medical monitoring equipment, administering medications, beginning or discontinuing catheters, or administering electrocardiograms.
• Prepares patients for examination including surgical instrument sterilization, supply, and equipment set up.
• Transports patients to/from surgery. Assists surgical team as needed with basic equipment and PPE preparation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• This position requires moderate standing/walking, as well as lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring of patients.

Under direct supervision from RN, provides direct patient care by performing delegated procedures of specialized and technical nature including setting up and maintaining specialized clinical equipment, collecting specimens, complex dressing changes, and other delegated nursing procedures. 11 west is a 32 bed unit that provides care to patients aged infant through adult with Congenital Heart Defects. This position's main focus will be assisting with the care of patients under the delegation of registered Nurses.

Required Qualifications*

Required: Graduation from high school or an equivalent or a combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications*

• Experience working with children.
• Preferred: Reasonable knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in laboratory and/or patient care activities.
