Job summary

UPMC Jameson's 3200 General Surgery unit is hiring a full-time Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician. This role will work rotating day and night shifts.

Patient Care Technicians are vital partners in the patient care provided at UPMC. They work on patient care units and perform a variety of important basic and advanced skills, closely with nurses and other professionals to improve patient recovery and hospital experience.

Qualifications

• Nursing assistant or patient care skills implied in role.
• Ability to support patient care routines and communicate with RN.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care including assisting with patient procedures and activities of daily living.
• Assists with blood pressure, vital signs, weights, I&O, specimen collections and Foley care.
• Performs core nursing assistant responsibilities and at least four of specified tasks (phlebotomy, 12 lead EKG, simple dressing, Foley catheter removal, point of care testing, bladder scan, straight catheter, IV catheter removal).
• Maintains equipment, reports malfunctions, communicates with departments, and supports universal unit activities.
• Documents in the medical record and completes department clerical functions as needed.
