Job summary

St. Bernards Healthcare in Jonesboro seeks a Patient Care Technician to perform assigned patient care activities and assist licensed nursing personnel, focusing on geriatric patient needs and effective communication with diverse ages.

Under the direct supervision of the Patient Care Manager or designee, you will be responsible for assigned areas on one shift. This is a safety sensitive position; overtime and call-back may be required by the facility.

Job description

• Completion of high school or its equivalent. Knowledge of computer software such as Windows, Office and Internet use. Ability to perform support activities in patient care as required through completion of an approved Vo-Tech program or certified as a Nurse Aide through the Office of Long Term Care, graduate of the SBMC PCT program, or after completion of an RN/LPN Nursing Student Skills Checklist completed by their nursing instructor. PCT experience within the last year will be considered in lieu of formal training. Note: High school vo-tech program requires student skills checklist to be completed by instructor.
• Experience
• Must demonstrate a sound knowledge base and action in care and judgment. Good communications skills. Takes oral and written instructions well- works in a team responsibly and independently without direct supervision. Records observations and activities. Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to and communicate with primarily the geriatric population and to a lesser degree the pediatric and adult populations. Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Able to assess data reflecting the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to their age-specific needs.
