Tenet Healthcare is seeking a Nursing Support role at DMC Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital in Commerce Township, MI. The position is part-time with a night shift, providing essential patient care and clerical support within a compassionate care team.

Qualified applicants will have a high school diploma or GED, plus PN graduation or equivalent training; CNA/MA/EMT/phlebotomy program completion is also acceptable. Six months patient care experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of a practical nursing program or equivalent training.
• Completion of one of: PCA/PCT, CNA, Medical Assistant, EMT, or phlebotomy program; six months patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with care team to ensure quality of care and productive staff relations.
• Performs basic patient care activities under RN direction and reports changes in patient condition.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living: feeding, bathing, toileting and hygiene.
• Follows departmental policies, safety, and infection control standards.
• Demonstrates sensitivity to patient comfort and privacy, answers questions, and maintains confidentiality.
• Performs general clerical duties as needed (phones, greeting patients).
• Supports personal growth through workshops and continuing education; maintains competencies.
• Performs other tasks as assigned.

Job Summary / Responsibilities

• Collaborates and cooperates with care team members to ensure consistency and quality of care and promotes productive employee relations among staff members. Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to the philosophy and objective of continuous improvement, team work and the mission, vision and values of the DMC.*
• Performs a variety of basic patient care activities under the direction of a registered nurse. Reports changes in patient medical and/or emotional condition to the registered nurse. Assists nursing personnel in responding to various emergency patient situations.*
• Assists patient in activities of daily living by feeding, bathing, toileting and other personal hygiene regimes.*
• Follows all departmental policies, procedures and objectives; continuous improvement initiatives; safety environmental and infection control standards. *
• Demonstrates sensitivity to patient comfort and privacy and expresses interest in patient progress. Answers questions from patients and their families and explains procedures and processes within the scope of their training/abilities. Maintains confidentiality. *
• As required by unit needs, performs general clerical duties which may include, but are not limited to, answering telephones and call lights, greeting patients and visitors.*
• Enhances personal growth through participation in workshops, educational programs, in-service meetings and reviewing current literature. Shares joint accountability (with the institution) for maintaining competencies. *
• Performs other tasks as assigned (see task list).*

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Graduation from a school of practical nursing OR
• Completion of one of the following:
  • A Certified PCA/PCT Program.
  • A Certified Nurse Assistant Program or equivalent training.
  • A Medical Assistant Program.
  • An EMT program.
  • A phlebotomy training program. With six (6) months direct patient care experience, preferred.
