Job summary

Avera Health Milbank Area Hospital is hiring a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) to join a multidisciplinary team providing routine patient care and support services. You will assist with ambulation, meals, hygiene, and call-light responses to ensure the highest quality of care for patients.

As part of our care team, you greet visitors, coordinate with staff, and help with tasks such as delivering meals and transporting supplies.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED is required or possess.
  • Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification/licensing is required or preferred.
  • Minimum age 16.

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine patient care and support services as directed by nurses or physicians to maintain quality care.
  • Greet individuals in the area, answer inquiries, relay messages, and assist with gifts, flowers, and mail.
  • Ambulate patients, assist with transfers from wheelchairs, measure inputs/outputs, and collect specimens as needed.
  • Answer phones, operate paging, and coordinate outpatient appointments with departments.

Work where you matter.A Brief OverviewResponsible for providing routine patient care and support services in accordance with established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the nurse or physician, to assure that the highest degree of quality patient care is maintained at all times.What you will doProvides safe and direct patient care: ambulating, bathing, positioning, entering diet information into the computer system, passing meal trays, feeding and attending to other care needs. Responds promptly to patient call lights and special needs, ensures that patient valuables and personal items are properly handled and accounted for.Greets all persons coming to the area assigned, answer inquiries, may direct and assist them, take and relay messages, assist with gifts, flowers, and mail for patients, run errands for department staff.Ambulates patients and assist them in and out of wheelchairs, measures intakes and outputs, may collect specimens and transport patients as needed.Answers telephone, operates paging system, and attends station and direct traffic during emergencies.Prepares requisitions for diagnostic and therapeutic services patients as directed and coordinate appointments with respective departments. Makes outpatient appointments for discharging patients.Requisition of supplies and equipment, maintenance and repairs services and prepares related forms.Requests services such as the following as directed: Chaplain, social services, and pastoral care.Performs clerical duties related to procedures such as admission, discharge, preparing appropriate charts and forms, transfer, and death.Manages interdepartmental and patient mail.Maintains patient rooms in an orderly condition, changes bed linens and provides routine cleaning tasks.Essential QualificationsThe individual must be able to work the hours specified.
