Location: Mercy Health Kings Mills Hospital

Position: Patient Care Technician (PCT) Trainee

Employment Type: Full Time Days

Job Summary:

The Patient Care Tech Trainee provides direct patient care under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or healthcare professional, following all relevant regulations and policies. This program is a temporary nurse aide training designed to enhance clinical experience.

Essential Functions:
  • Supports nursing process application under supervision, including basic patient care, vital signs, hygiene, and mobility assistance.
  • Acts as liaison between patient and nurse, reporting changes or concerns.
  • Provides high-quality customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
  • Participates in hand-offs and reporting of patient information.
  • Performs delegated tasks to gain competency and training.
Licensure/Certification:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (preferred upon hire; must obtain prior to direct patient care).
Experience:
  • Recent healthcare experience preferred but not required.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional engagement with staff and patients.
  • Proactive in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of safety standards, regulations, and infection control.
  • Clinical technology proficiency.
  • Accountability and escalation of concerns.
