PCT must have one of the following:

• Nursing Student in RN school with at least 1 clinical semester completed;
• STNA/CNA certification;
• Minimum of 1 year of Aide experience in a hospital or LTC setting.

Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Patient Care Tech (PCT) provides direct patient care under the guidance of the Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional, in accordance with regulations and organizational policies.

Essential Job Functions

1. Provides basic patient care including comfort, vital signs, personal hygiene, and mobility assistance.
2. Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns.
3. Delivers high-quality customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff.
4. Maintains accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
5. Participates in hand-off reports regarding patient and departmental needs.
6. Performs delegated tasks after competency validation.
7. Mobilizes patients using therapeutic transfer techniques to foster independence and safety.
8. Encourages patient independence in completing tasks.
9. Individualizes care based on patient interests and hobbies.

Licensing/Certification

BLS (Basic Life Support) preferred upon hire; must obtain prior to direct patient care.

Must have completed one of the following:

• Nursing aide training program or
• Passed STNA State Tested Nurse Aide exam or
• CNA certification or
• Nursing program with clinical rotations or
• One year of relevant clinical experience.

Education

None required.

Work Experience

Recent experience in healthcare settings preferred.

Training

EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training preferred.

Working Conditions
