Premier Health’s Atrium Medical Center is seeking a Part-Time Patient Care Tech to provide direct patient support in the Float Pool. The role partners with nurses to monitor vitals, assist with daily activities, and ensure comfort and safety in a busy hospital setting.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, BLS CPR certification, and relevant clinical training or nursing school rotations. Prior hospital exposure is a plus.

Position: Patient Care Tech
Department: Float Pool
Shift: 7:00 pm-7:00 am, Part-Time, 24 hours a week, 48 per pay period
Facility: Atrium Medical Center

A Patient Care Technician, or PCT, works with nurses and doctors to care for patients. Some of the tasks they do are

• Check things like temperature, heartbeat, and breathing.
• Help patients move around, get dressed, and eat.
• Collect samples like urine.
• Report any changes in a patient's condition to a nurse.
• Help with patient walks, hygiene, weighing patients, vitals

The PCT works under the supervision of the nurse, which means the nurse makes sure they are doing things safely and correctly. Sometimes, the PCT might also be called a Patient Care Technician/Unit Clerk.

Qualifications

• Education: You'll need a high school diploma or GED.
• Training: You'll need to get a BLS CPR certificate. If you don’t already have it, they can teach you how to do CPR at your orientation, too (so you don't need to do it beforehand).
• Experience: Successful completion of one of the following:

1. Completion of previous STNA or CNA training or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training.
2. Direct patient care experience within the last five years: Performing fundamental skills of vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) & direct patient care activities ie. Bathing, turning/positioning, toileting
3. Currently enrolled in nursing school and have completed at least one clinical rotation.
4. Special Consideration: If the candidate has previous direct patient care experience, they may be excused from fundamental training (BCOP) upon completion of successful skills validation. This is in lieu of the above requirements.
